Trench Town Polytechnic College (TTPC), Jamaica's first polytechnic institution, is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious, and service-oriented Driver (GMG/LMO 1) to support the College's transportation operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the College's bus and other assigned vehicles, ensuring the timely transportation of students, staff, visitors, equipment, and supplies while maintaining high standards of professionalism and road safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate the College's bus and other assigned vehicles in accordance with the Road Traffic Act and institutional policies.
- Transport students, staff, and authorized passengers to approved destinations.
- Assist with the transportation of equipment, furniture, supplies, and other College assets as required.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report mechanical defects or maintenance needs.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, fuel levels, and service records.
- Ensure compliance with all traffic laws, safety regulations, and defensive driving practices.
- Complete vehicle logbooks, mileage records, and other required documentation accurately.
- Support College events, outreach activities, recruitment exercises, and other institutional initiatives requiring transportation services.
- Exercise discretion and professionalism when interacting with students, staff, visitors, and external stakeholders.
- Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Valid Jamaican General Driver's Licence with the appropriate endorsement to operate a bus.
- Minimum of five (5) years' professional driving experience, including operating passenger buses or similar commercial vehicles.
- Clean driving record with no serious traffic convictions.
- Sound knowledge of the Road Traffic Act, road safety regulations, and defensive driving techniques.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle inspections and identify mechanical issues.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, reliability, punctuality, and a strong customer service orientation.
