Primary Purpose

The primary purpose of a CNP Driver is to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of food and related supplies to various school locations, enabling the successful operation of the school child nutrition program. This role plays a critical part in delivering nutritious meals to scholars and staff, while maintaining compliance with regulations and safety standards.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing orders for the purpose of delivering orders to vended kitchens.
  • Assist in receiving stock and non‑stock items for the purpose of ensuring specifications, quantity and quality of orders are correct.
  • Load food carrier (Cambro) with prepared meals into vehicle for delivery; unload and transport food carrier to vended kitchens.
  • Drive delivery vehicles (food, supplies, and materials) for the purpose of transporting to designated areas in a timely manner. Ensure temperatures of food remain at optimal levels.
  • Assist in cleaning and organizing food, and equipment (rotating stock) managing inventory.
  • Prepare quality food according to planned menu and recipes.
  • Serve food according to meal schedules and food safety policies and procedures.
  • Store and handle food items and supplies according to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to safety standards and follow established policies and procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health and safety.
  • Keep garbage collection containers and areas neat and sanitary.
  • Follow all industry standard guidelines for food safety and sanitation.
  • Maintain good personal appearance and hygiene according to food safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure counting and claiming process are followed according to USDA/TDA guidelines.
  • Handle and record cashier functions accurately and timely.
  • Help record and maintain daily food production worksheet, daily delivery receipt.
  • Promote teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members.
  • Complete annual continuing education and training.
  • Complete assignments in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Assist in the daily clean‑up of the kitchen area and equipment.
  • Assist in the major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas at regular scheduled intervals.
  • If assigned, carry out other specific kitchen tasks (e.g., dishwasher, cashier, cleaning, and push meals to other areas of the school).
  • Provide a courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with scholars and staff.
  • Assist other personnel as may be required to support them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Conduct daily vehicle safety inspections, refuel as needed, and report required maintenance or malfunctions promptly in accordance with Department of Transportation and internal fleet safety guidelines, to and from the central kitchen, obeying traffic laws and observing defensive driving practices; and report any problems for maintaining the vehicle in a safe operating condition.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or general education diploma (GED) preferred; may substitute equivalent work experience for diploma preference.
  • Experience: Previous driving experience with a company vehicle preferred.

    Certifications:

    Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license before employment, with a clean driving record. Keep your driver’s license current and do not let renewal lapse. Capable of operating motorized vehicles safely. Ability to possess a current Food Handler Permit 5 days before employment. Understand food preparation and safety instructions. Knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures. Capable of operating small and large kitchen equipment and tools.
