Job Summary

The Assistant/Driver plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the ICNA Relief Food Pantry. You will work under the direct supervision of the Food Pantry Coordinator to ensure the hunger-prevention program runs smoothly, safely, and with the highest standards of customer care. This role is perfect for a reliable individual who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is passionate about helping diverse members of our community.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inventory & Stocking: Responsible for sorting, weighing, and restocking donated food items. This includes daily management of storage containers, walk-in refrigerators, and freezers.
  • Logistics & Driving: Operate the agency van to pick up food donations from local markets. Assist volunteers and donors with safely unloading their vehicles.
  • Distribution Setup: Prepare all food distribution sites, ensuring tables, carts, and pallet areas are organized and ready for clients.
  • Client Support: Assist with client check-in and the bagging of food items as needed, providing compassionate service to all stakeholders.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of all food brought to the agency, inventorying donations and providing receipts to donors.
  • Sanitation: Maintain a clean and safe workplace by sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing tables, refrigerators, and equipment daily. Ensure proper disposal of garbage and cardboard.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in a food pantry or a related service environment.
  • Language: Spanish language proficiency (bilingual in English/ Spanish).
  • Driving: Must possess a current, valid Driver’s License and have the ability to safely drive a cargo van.
  • Skills: * Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic database knowledge).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent work habits: punctual, reliable, and cooperative.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and manipulate heavy objects.
  • Position requires standing and/or lifting approximately 80% of the time.
  • Willingness to work in varying temperatures (both indoors and outdoors), including heat and rain.
