Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable Night Driver to perform overnight deliveries and transportation tasks for our commercial operations. The Night Driver will operate nonCDL Class C commercial vehicles to transport goods safely, complete required documentation, and provide excellent service to facilities and customers during night hours. This role prioritizes safety, timeliness, and accurate handling of cargo while working independently on an overnight schedule.
*This follows a non traditional work schedule – Wednesday through Sunday
Start time varies between 2-3am, with routes ending between 8-11am, overtime permitted
Key Responsibilities
- Operate company nonCDL Class C commercial vehicles safely and in compliance with all traffic laws and company policies during overnight shifts.
- Complete pre trip and post trip vehicle inspections, report maintenance needs, and ensure vehicles are clean and fueled.
- Load, secure, and unload cargo using appropriate equipment and safe lifting techniques; verify shipments against manifests and delivery orders.
- Plan and follow efficient routes using GPS and company routing tools; adapt to changes and communicate delays promptly.
- Collect signatures, process delivery paperwork, and maintain accurate logs and records for deliveries, mileage, and time worked.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, supervisors, and customers to confirm delivery instructions and resolve issues.
- Adhere to company safety protocols, including incident reporting, use of personal protective equipment, and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Assist with light warehouse duties as needed, such as staging shipments, organizing inventory, and returning empty containers.
Qualifications
- Valid state Class C drivers license (nonCDL) and eligibility to operate commercial lightduty vehicles.
- Proven commercial driving experience, preferably in overnight or delivery operations.
- Clean driving record with no recent major violations; ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Strong knowledge of safe loading/unloading practices and basic vehicle inspection procedures.
- Ability to work overnight hours consistently, including weekends and holidays as required.
- Physical ability to lift and carry packages up to 50 lbs. and perform repetitive bending and walking during shifts.
- Proficient with GPS navigation, mobile devices, and electronic proof of delivery systems.
- Good communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
