Responsibilities
- Field Safety Oversight
- Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and transportation regulations.
- Conduct routine yard, vehicle, and site inspections.
- Monitor adherence to company safety policies and safe work practices.
- Support implementation of safety programs across operations.
- Driver Safety
- Monitor driver compliance, including logs, fatigue management, and safe driving practices.
- Assist with driver coaching and corrective action processes.
- Support onboarding and safety orientation for drivers.
- Incident Management
- Assist with investigating collisions, workplace injuries, and near misses.
- Document findings and support implementation of corrective actions.
- Track and report safety incidents.
- Training & Safety Programs
- Coordinate and deliver safety training programs, including onboarding and site orientations.
- Support ongoing safety initiatives and awareness campaigns.
- Client & Site Coordination
- Liaise with clients and site representatives to ensure safety requirements are met.
- Ensure compliance with site‑specific rules and procedures.
- Maintain required safety documentation for site access and audits.
- Compliance Administration
- Navigate software related to workplace safety and ELD tracking.
- Maintain safety records, logs, and documentation.
- Support internal audits, regulatory reporting, and compliance tracking.
Qualifications
- NCSO designation or in‑progress.
- Post‑secondary Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Diploma.
- Knowledge of transportation safety regulations and occupational health & safety standards.
- 3–5 years of experience in a safety, transportation, or industrial environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to follow existing processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and in field environments.
- Capability to support existing processes while identifying improvements.
Working Conditions
- Combination of field and office‑based work.
- 75% travel between terminals, yards, office, and project sites.
- Eight hours per day, Monday to Friday.
- Availability to respond to incidents on weekends or after hours when required.
