As a Solid Waste Worker, you will be responsible for the collection of residential refuse, yard waste, bulk items, recyclable materials and/or the removal of litter from City streets, lanes and rights-of-way.

* Performs manual labor in day-to-day Sanitation Department operations.
* Serves as a spotter to assist truck operator in safely backing up and maneuvering in congested spaces.
* May assist truck operator with determining correct routes.
* Operates hydraulic lift and press.
* Maintains inventory of tools assigned to the truck.
* Collects household refuse.
* Directs traffic as needed.
* Collects recyclable materials.
* Collects litter, changes litter baskets.
* Collects yard waste, bulk items, and dead animals.
* Cleans vehicles and equipment at end of route.
* Assembles, delivers, repairs, cleans, and collects refuse carts as assigned.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
No prior experience required.
Requires the ability to lift items up to forty (40) pounds.
This is a critical workforce position.
Work Hours:
Mon – Thurs 7:00 a.m.
– 5:00 p.m.

Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
* Knowledge of department safety procedures.
* Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
* Skill in the operation of hydraulic lift and press mechanism.
* Skill in oral communication.
