  • Take responsibility for timely traffic planning of routes and scheduling delivery times to ensure the customer receives a first‑class service in a cost‑effective way.
  • Carry out tasks largely unsupervised to meet cost and quality standards.
  • Plan ahead – tasks and resources, liaise with internal/external customers to resolve problems.
  • Collect, analyse and distribute information/data.
  • Provide professional/specialist advice internally and externally.
  • Develop relationships with external customers.
  • Specify and ensure levels of support service are in place.
  • Complete tasks to time and quality standards.
  • Work within budgets, avoiding customer complaints.
  • Build successful working partnerships with customers, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deliver the right advice in a timely manner and achieve respect for competence.
  • Plan routes and schedule delivery times in collaboration with customers, suppliers, drivers and other traffic desks.
  • Prioritise workload, conduct driver brief and de‑brief.
  • Communicate and monitor driver performance.
  • Use computerised system (Stirling) and Excel to plan schedules, journeys and loads.
  • Proactively work to reduce late deliveries and missed time slots.
  • Monitor compliance with transport regulations, VOSA, SAFED etc.
  • Participate in employee health and safety responsibilities.
  • Ensure vehicles and trailers are available timely to meet compliance and inspection requirements.
  • Provide general support to management as required.

Qualifications and Training

  • Experience of working at a similar level.
  • National CPC holder (desirable but not essential).
  • Problem solving and logical thinking.
  • Works unsupervised, manages time, prioritises work to meet tight deadlines.

  • Team player with a flexible “Can‑Do” attitude.
  • Booking driver agency staff when workload requires.
