Our growing Etobicoke client who is a leader in Distribution is looking for a Transportation Shunt Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years related experience in a managerial capacity and will be responsible for the following:
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the shunt operations and activities ensuring efficient yard flow is maintained within the designated areas at customer yard/site.
- Effectively manage and regularly monitor the performance of shunt driving team, address any issues that may arise, ensure they are trained and meeting required standards during shunt truck operations.
- Work directly with customer’s management team to communicate and resolve shunt operations related issues.
- Work collaboratively and communicate with the transportation operations and safety team to meet customer requirements/demands.
- Complete and submit pertinent documentation and activity reports.
- Manage the movement of trailers in the yard, ensuring compliance and safety regulations and proper maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment in the yard.
- Regularly inspect the yard to ensure all equipment are in good working order.
- Plan and schedule equipment repairs as required.
- Complete safety assessments and report potential hazards and any damages or safety related issues to safety department.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure all employees are trained on proper procedures.
- May perform shunt driving duties.
- May conduct reefer checks.
- You will oversee a team of 14 shunt and truck drivers.
- This position is not limited to the above and can be modified and expanded as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience of management in transportation and distribution centre yard operations.
- Knowledge of specialized yard equipment; shunt trucks and trailers.
- A/Z license required (minimum 3 years).
- Safe driving record, clean CVOR and abstract.
- Criminal Record Check and Reference Checks.
- High pressure position. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Strong leadership skills and be able to motivate and manage a team of yard workers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer knowledge – familiar with technologies and equipment used in the yard.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be flexible to work schedule based on business operations needs.
Benefits
Day Shift with occasional weekends.
Salary 75K-80K.
