JOB OVERVIEW
The Driver is responsible for safely and timely delivering our goods to our stores island wide. He will be tasked with driving the assigned truck and work with the Sidemen to offload at the stores
The Driver must be alert and not operating under the influence of drug and alcohol at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
· Safely transporting Company staff as well as products and material to specified locations in a timely manner
· Support the offloading and delivery of goods at customers’ locations
· Collecting payments and securing it in the safe
MAIN DUTIES
· Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient route
· Pick up Sidemen when necessary using Company van when assigned delivery for locations such as Montego Bay, Savanna La Mar and Mandeville based on conditions
· Ensure that the Company vehicle is parked in areas where parking is allowed to avoid towing
· Adjust route as is necessary to avoid heavy traffic and undue delays
· Report all accidents/injuries and damage to vehicles regardless of severity and tickets issued to management
· Assist the Shipping Department with receiving and checking in merchandise
· Prepares orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling material; packing boxes; placing orders in delivery area as per manager’s request
· Sort and place materials or items in boxes, racks, shelves or bins according to Company standards
· Opens bales, sort, fold, count and select items as required.
· Assist in the counting of physical inventory
· Splitting of rolls by using machine or manual cutting by hand
· Maintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area and work stations neat at all times, ensuring that all hazardous objects are removed from walkways and aisles.
· Assist with sweeping, dusting and mopping of work area.
· Ensure the warehouse and work areas organized at all times
· Wear the appropriate personal protective gear/equipment issue and adhere to the safety regulations booklet
· Support the offloading of containers and the loading of trucks
· Ensure that assignments in the sponge/poly-fill room is completed as instructed
· Assist with the rolling of fabrics as assigned
· Support/visit to stores as is assigned whether as sideman or otherwise
· Ensure that goods are correctly coded
· Support the stock taking exercises
· Be attentive while operating truck in order to identify mechanical/maintenance issues
Other duties
· Perform any other duties and/or responsibilities given within the legal framework as Driver whether minor, major or incidental tasks related to this portfolio.
Qualification:
- Three (3) years’ experience operating a commercial carriage vehicle
- Possess a valid Open General Driver’s licence to include operating trucks
