We are currently recruiting for a Yard Shunter to join our transport team in Shirebrook. This is a key role responsible for the safe and efficient movement of vehicles within the transport yard, supporting warehouse operations and ensuring trailers are positioned correctly for loading.
Responsibilities
- Safely manoeuvre vehicles between bays within the transport yard and across site delivery points
- Operate a range of vehicles, including shunt tugs and HGVs
- Position trailers and containers on loading bays for live and scheduled loading
- Work closely with Warehouse and Transport teams to ensure smooth operations
- Liaise with third‑party and service provider drivers
- Ensure vehicles are available for inspection and maintenance as required
- Follow Health & Safety procedures at all times
Qualifications
- Valid HGV licence (essential)
- Previous experience within a transport or yard environment (preferred)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Able to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
- Reliable and flexible approach to shift work
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
